Marcel Sutedja

viool, vioolstrijkstok

As part of my violin learning process, I attempt to be part of many different concerts/programs; masterclasses ensembles and settings as I feel I can improve/exchange ideas, techniques and inspiration in the musical landscapes.

Concerts/Programs: Grachtenfestival 2020 (Nominee “Bunschoten Jong Talent” Prize), Live show “De Klassieken” (NPO Radio 4); ”Christmas Gala Concert with Wibi Soerjadi” (Concertgebouw Amsterdam); Wibi Soerjadi Concert (Theater de Reggehof); “Het Kerst MuziekGala 2019” (Avotros); “Kinderprincengrachtconcert 2019” (Avotros) in Amsterdam”.

Masterclasses: Maria Milstein “The 60th anniversary of Maassluise Concours” ; “Mathijs van der Heide “Podium Presentation” at the Royal Concertgebouw Amsterdam ; Maria Milstein “Violin Masterclass” at ARTEZ, University of the Arts Zwolle ; Peter Brunt “Violin Masterclass” at Royal Consevatory of the Hague.

Of course life is a journey, not a destination, so I joined several competitions to keeping the music in focus and staying connected with the audience.

Competitions: China-Spain International Music Competition 2020 (Excelent Interpretation Prize); Prinses Christina Concours West1 2020 (2nd prize); Nederlands Viool Concours 2020 (2nd prize Iordens); SUPERKIDS 2019-Talpa-SBS6 (1st prize); “Grumiaux” International Concours 2019 (final) ; Ysaye International Music Competition in Liège, Belgium (1st prize); International Music Competition - Brussel “Grand Prize Virtuoso ” (1st prize + Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize) ; “Koninklijk Concertgebouw Concours 2018, Amsterdam” (final) ; “Britten Vioolconcours, Zwolle” (1st prize) ; “Maassluise Muziekweek, Maassluis” (2nd prize); Davina van Wely, Nederlands Vioolconcours (1st Prize).

I’m very thankful to The Dutch Music Instruments Foundation (NMF) for giving me the opportunity to play on a beautiful Italian violin c. 1731 on loan. Having this chance is a blessing. I feel very motivated and inspired from it.

I’m also thankful to my violin teachers and the people close to me who have support me tremendously.
