Khrystyna Kulchynska

cello, cellostrijkstok

Hailing from a family of musicians in Ukraine, I have been playing the cello for over a decade, starting at the age of six. My first cello teacher, and a constant source of inspiration, was my own mother. I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to her for instilling in me the love for music and nurturing my talent from the very beginning. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Cello Performance in Amsterdam and I am currently pursuing a Master's degree at the Utrecht Conservatory. Throughout my career, I have actively participated in various musical projects, showcasing my skills both as an orchestra player and a member of ensembles. Notably, I am a dedicated member of Duo Era (cello and harp) and Cellowercken octet.

My true passion lies in venturing beyond classical music, engaging in diverse collaborations and projects spanning classical, electronic, and jazz genres. I thrive on pushing boundaries and constantly seek new avenues to expand my musical horizons.

In my journey as a musician, I have been incredibly fortunate to receive support from the NMF. I am immensely grateful to the foundation for believing in me and providing me with an extraordinary cello made by Daniel Royé, which has been instrumental in my development as a musician. Additionally, their generosity extended to providing me with an exceptional bow that has further enhanced my performances. The foundation's support has not only nurtured my talent but also helping and me to realise my dreams, such as performing at prestigious venues like the Concertgebouw (Fiber festival 2023) and other renowned halls in the Netherlands and outside.

With profound gratitude for the foundation's belief in my potential and their invaluable assistance, I am dedicated to continuing my artistic growth, exploring new horizons, and creating transformative musical experiences for audiences worldwide.
