De prachtige Capicchioni-cello gaat al heel lang met mij mee. Het is een mooie cello die warm en helder klinkt.
Ik hou mij het meeste bezig met kamermuziekrepertoire en juist daar ligt de kracht ook van deze cello om zich te mengen, te vormen en als het moment daar is, er bovenuit te komen. Bij het spelen van soloconcerten is het iets harder werken om te strijden tegen het geluid van een heel orkest. Maar ook daar komt de cello uiteindelijk prachtig boven alles uit. Ik denk dat er geen mens of dier op aarde is die zoveel met mij heeft doorgemaakt als dit instrument. Het schept een sterke band, en het is fijn om lang op een instrument te kunnen spelen. Zodat je weet wat de sterkte karaktereigenschappen zijn en waar je op kunt vertrouwen. Ik zou niet weten wat ik zonder dit instrument zou moeten en ben het NMF dankbaar voor alles wat ze doen voor de musici.

Irene Kok is an international prize winning Dutch Cellist. Feeling at home on every stage, travelling the world with her most beloved instrument and trying to inspire people by making music. Irene Kok got her education at the conservatory in Amsterdam with J. den Herder and at the university of Vienna with Prof. Reinhard Latzko. She made her solo debut with the Dutch Northern Orchestra in 2019 with the first cello concerto of Shostakovich with Damian Iorio and will be taking the stage with Tchaikovsky - rococo variations, Vivaldi and Brahms double concerto this season (19/20) The Chimaera Trio, where Irene is a founding member, will bring out its debut CD in the 'AVROTROS classical presents' series - an initiative from the Dutch Radio/TV.
