I was born in a very small country called Republic of Moldova. Growing up in a musical family I was always surrounded by music. My mother is a singer and my father plays the trumpet. I guess it is no surprise that I decided to pursue a career in music.
I started playing the violin at the age of seven, when I went to “Ciprian Porumbescu” Lyceum of Music in Chisinau. Throughout my studies in Moldova I won numerous prizes at National and International Competitions. At the same time I was playing a lot of pop and Moldovan folk music, often singing and dancing at the same time! However, my true love and passion was always classical music.
In 2012, I won a full scholarship to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London with prof. David Takeno, where I truly discovered the infinite possibilities of the violin and classical music in general.
I have been fortunate to be given opportunities to perform as a soloist in prestigious venues across the globe; Carnegie Hall, Barbican Hall and Wigmore Hall just to name a few.
Chamber Music plays a big part in my musical life, having been a member of the Mithras Trio since 2017. We are currently Borletti-Buitoni Trust Artists as well as former BBC Radio 3 New Generation Artists. Our first CD names ‘Eros’ was released in 2023. We are strong advocates of contemporary music, often collaborating with exciting young composers of our generation.
In 2022, I was appointed 1st Concertmaster of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. I am so grateful that this amazing position led me to play on this beautiful G.B Guadagnini violin and a J.P.M.Persoit bow from the NMF collection. Playing on this incredible instrument has been a revelation! There are endless possibilities in colour and expression, which can be explored on this instrument and bow. I am inspired and humbled to play on them, and feel so lucky to go on this journey of musical discovery. I am so grateful to the NMF for their support.
