Arina Kuchmina
altviool
Being born into a music admiring family, I was surrounded by music from the very young age. I started with violin at 5 years old at the local music school, I was visiting performances at the jazz theater with my grandmother that introduced me to the standards. Till today classical music and jazz are my two biggest passions.
Currently I am studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Marjolein Dispa. I enjoy collaborating with different artists and play chamber music written for all kinds of ensembles. Moreover, I write my own music and perform as a singer.
In the recent past, I was studying in Helsinki, Finland with Teemu Kupiainen. In 2018 I was chosen as a section leader for Berliner Philharmoniker's BE PHIL Orchestra to perform under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle.
I had a privilege to have lessons with such musicians as Nobuko Imai, Lilli Maijala, Michael Kugel, Maxim Rysanov, Yuvan Gotlibovich, Yura Lee, Meta4 quartet, Danel quartet.
I am very happy with my instrument I got from NMF. It's a viola built in 1997 by Jan Van Der Elst. Since the first time I tried the instrument, I knew that it's a match.
