Antonio Pellegrino

Antonio Pellegrino comes from Italy, where he trained at the Conservatory of Cosenza before continuing his studies at the University of Stavanger, Norway, as an Erasmus student. He received a master's degree in performance in Lugano, Switzerland, studying with Enrico Dindo. Subsequently, he was guided by Giovanni Gnocchi at the Royal Philharmonic Academy of Bologna. Antonio received a Fulbright Scholarship to study in the US in 2022, where he focused on contemporary music. In 2025 he obtained a master's degree specializing in historical cello performance practice at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague under the guidance of Lucia Swarts.

Antonio has worked with Alfredo Bernardini, Catherine Jones, Alessandro Quarta, and Veronika Skuplik at the Bremen Music Festival (Germany); Gaetano Nasillo, Lorenzo Coppola, and Giorgio Sanguinetti at Urbino Musica Antica (Italy); Fabio Bonizzoni and La Risonanza in Bertinoro (Italy); Amandine Beyer, Anna Fontana, and Olivier Fourés at the Académie Gli Incogniti (Le Brugas, France); and Richard Egarr, Clive Brown, Marc Vanscheeuwijck, Bruno Cocset, and Ton Koopman (The Hague, Netherlands), among other early music specialists.

Antonio is a former prizewinner at the Boccherini Competition in Lucca, Italy. In 2024, his trio received first prize in the prestigious Internationaler Kammermusikwettbewerb “À Tre” , as well as a special prize to perform in the Schlosskonzerte Bad Krozingen series. In 2025, with Agata Sorotokin (historical keyboards), he won first prize at the Early Music Vancouver Emerging Artist Competition .

Recently, Antonio participated in important projects at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, collaborating with Kati Debretzeni, the Orchestra of the 18th Century, and Michael Chance. He also recorded with Maarten Engeltjes and PRJCT Amsterdam in the Grote Zaal of the Royal Concertgebouw. This past season, he performed at the York Early Music Festival and Competition, Urbino Musica Antica, Bremen Music Festival, Festival Oude Muziek Utrecht, and the Stichting Musica Antica da Camera series with his groups I Mastricelli and Trio Tenorizans. In 2025, Antonio will tour with the European Union Baroque Orchestra, working with internationally renowned artists.
